This blog is not a political one and since I have been privileged to write about my beloved military family and related stories and events, I have worked diligently to stay on topic and true to “Cindy’s Salute”.
I have chosen to stay clear of political and religious subject matter which at times has been pretty difficult since I have strong personal views concerning both.
But on the eve of the Florida Republican Primary, I feel that I must speak out; not for one candidate over another, and not even for one party over another. I’ve decided that all of our candidates, to include our current President of the United States, are sadly lacking in the most critical qualification of all.
Not one of these men has ever served in the military and I would think that as Commander- In- Chief of our Armed Forces, that at the very least he would have military experience listed in his resume.
I would like our future president to stand in front of our brave men and women going into battle and be able to say, “I have been where who are, I have fought the fight, and I know what it’s like to lose a comrade and a friend. I’ve been afraid, too, sons and daughters. You have chosen to risk all for your country so I promise my support until you all come home.”
My hope is that one day, we voters will give our troops a leader they deserve!
Cindy, I am afraid (deeply) that we have seen the last of “Great” presidents. Ronald Reagan was the last. Now, we have lawyers.
It is our patriotic duty to vote every election regardless of how we perceive world events, feel about politics, or think about our fellow man.
